A Proven Process
Project Initiation
At the project’s inception the BKM management team will meet to review the project criteria, the anticipated design schedule and the projected staffing assignments. With a firm understanding of the scope of work, associated time constraints relative to the various milestones, and proper staffing, we will establish a plan for successful delivery.
Scheduling
Engineering design schedules are developed to allow careful monitoring of the production milestones that must be met to keep a project on track. These schedules may range from simple bar charts to sophisticated computerized programs, depending on the scope and complexity of the project. BKM has considerable experience with fast-tracking projects and can expedite schedules to meet the specific needs of the project.
Budgeting
Project budgets are established with an eye toward initial cost, effective technical solutions, as well as future operating and life cycle costs. After the budgets are developed, periodic in-house meetings are held to monitor costs through the entire design phase of a project.
Quality Control
During the schematic design phase informal peer review will occur by way of round table discussion among management staff. This exercise allows a free flow of ideas and “what if” scenarios to assure the design direction is truly in the owner’s best interest. Our formal QA/QC program is initiated during the DD phase. Along with design completeness and accuracy the management staff will review the documents for code issues, design standards, and interdisciplinary coordination.
Construction Administration
BKM maintains a dedicated construction administration department. Led by our CA director BKM understands that our service does not end with the submission of construction documents. By providing a timely and comprehensive review of all shop drawings, RFI’s, and contractor change order requests, BKM minimizes the potential for future project delays. In addition to the industry standard services, BKM offers comprehensive post occupancy reviews at six and twelve-month intervals to ensure optimum systems performance.
