-- Rajan Battish Appointed to Managing Principal of BKM Mission Critical Facilities, Brings Deep Expertise in Advancement of Critical Systems for Data Centers, Network Operation Centers and Readiness Centers --
-- Firm Buys Building to Accommodate for New Company, Continued Employee/Biz Growth --
Burdette, Koehler, Murphy & Associates, Inc. (BKM) is launching a new firm dedicated to meeting the increasing demands for mission critical facilities that require absolute reliability, in any situation, 24x7, 365 days of the year. Based in Baltimore, the new firm, BKM Mission Critical Facilities (BKM-MCF), is being led by managing principal and noted industry expert, Rajan Battish, PE, LEED AP.
Battish has more than 15 years' experience in power infrastructure for mission critical facilities. Formerly a principal with RTKL Applied Technology Group, he has served as the lead electrical engineer on projects including the two-story, 90,000 square feet Highmark Enterprise data center; the 230,000 square foot eBay Enterprise Data Center; and the 11,000 square feet raised floor data center which serves Johns Hopkins University and Hospital.
Battish commented, "I take great pride in being asked to launch BKM-MCF. I had the pleasure of working with BKM on several projects, and what I always respected and appreciated the most was their corporate philosophy, which states ‘Never give the client a single reason to go elsewhere.' For me, that dedication to client service was a driving factor in deciding to join the firm."
BKM-MCF was created from the many successes of BKM, a mechanical, electrical engineering firm based in Baltimore, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2008. Over the past five years BKM has experienced significant growth, including an increase in employees and billings of nearly 80 percent. Much of this growth is attributed to the firm's new generation of leadership - Jim Barrett, Mark Flickinger, and Gary Johnson - who succeeded the previous owners in 2004.
Jim Barrett, president of BKM said, "At BKM, our philosophy emphasizes a commitment to our clients, to innovation, and to building long-term relationships. Our clients count on us to anticipate the direction of change and to plan for the fast-approaching future." He continues, "We've experienced constant growth in mission critical work over the years, and our clients in that sector have very specific needs that go above and beyond typical engineering standards. It was a natural progression for us to launch a firm dedicated to mission-critical facilities in order to better serve the very specific needs of our clients that require uptime, reliability, and security. We are very excited and fortunate to add Rajan to our team ... his level of expertise and ability to deliver client relations excellence is phenomenal."
In his new role, Battish will lead BKM-MCF's group of dedicated design specialists and support staff, who will focus on the advancement of critical systems designs for data centers, network operation centers, and readiness centers. He will also have the support of BKM's entire engineering firm as well as BKM-MCF principal, Gary Johnson, a veteran mechanical engineer and BKM principal with a special interest in mission-critical facilities.
To accommodate the firm's growth, BKM has acquired a 12,000 square foot commercial building which is located in close proximity to their existing office. The building is undergoing a renovation, with plans for completion at the end of August.
