Cherry Hill Elementary/Middle School

BKM recently concluded providing MEP design services for the 120,000-square-foot renovation/addition to Cherry Hill Elementary/Middle School. The project corrected the aging facility’s current systems in poor condition to satisfy today’s educational standards, life safety, and code requirements as well as ensure lower operational costs in the future with newer/more efficient systems. The existing structure was gutted and an addition was added to the school, comprising of entirely new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Mechanical modifications are include an air source Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system coupled with dedicated outdoor air units for ventilation with energy recovery. Radiant ceiling panels with auxiliary heat and high efficiency condensing natural gas boilers and water heater were incorporated, along with VFDs on the pumps. New plumbing fixtures meeting the current low-lead and low-flow requirements were provided. Electrical modifications included a service replacement, emergency generator, school-wide LED lighting, addressable fire system upgrades, and various sound/data/security systems maximizing safety. The project was designed to achieve a minimum of LEED Silver Certification. Construction was completed August 2018 and is awaiting occupation in the fall of 2018.
