Overview
BKM provided m/e/p design services for a new school that will serve students in pre-kindergarten through grade eight. Designed for a capacity of approximately 850 students, the school will replace two existing DCPS facilities on the adjacent site. The 120,000 SF school will house classrooms, laboratories, media center, cafeteria with a stage, offices, and support spaces. It will share a 500-seat gymnasium with a 20,000 SF community recreation center, also programmed as part of the complex. Adjacent to the recreation center will be a small public library branch of approximately 5,000 SF. The project was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
