Legacy Apartment

BKM designed a new 220,000 SF affordable housing complex that comprises two (2) new multi-family buildings with 153 apartments.

One building is four floors with 59 apartments totaling 79,600 SF built over one level of parking (approximately 20,700 SF) and is located in Columbia, MD. The other building has four floors with 94 apartments totaling 96,020 SF built over one level of parking (approximately 24,560 SF). There are twenty-three (23) different unit types with a combination of 1 Bedroom, 2 Bedroom, 3 Bedroom, and 4 Bedroom units throughout both buildings. In addition to residential spaces, the building features leasing office space, a business office space, a fitness center, a homework room, a game room, a maintenance office, and a community room The project features individual split system heat pumps to serve each residence and a dedicated outdoor air unit to provide dehumidified fresh air to the building. The project also features green technologies, including the heat pump hot water heaters and a small photo voltaic (PV) array for local electrical generation.
