Baltimore County community leaders are celebrating what will become the new Woodlawn Health Center.

The county will open the relocated health center through a first-of-its kind partnership with Set the Captives Free Outreach Center. It will be located at the O.W.E. Center, a comprehensive community service hub at Security Square Mall.

The current health center is located on the lower level of Baltimore County Public Library’s Woodlawn Branch.

Baltimore County operates eight health centers that offer services including health counseling, immunizations, family planning and reproductive health care, sexually transmitted infections screening, diagnosis and treatment and behavioral health supports.

According to the county, the Woodlawn Health Center is the busiest in the county, accounting for 24% of patients served countywide with more than 3,600 annual visits; however, it’s currently the county’s smallest site.

The new 8,800-square-foot center will more than double the size of the existing site and triple exam room space while providing a modern health care setting for residents.

Additionally, the county plans to relocate the Woodlawn WIC to the new Woodlawn Health Center in 2021 to provide improved access to both services in one location.

Construction of the new Woodlawn Health Center is expected to be completed by summer 2021.
