Dear Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of one of our firm’s founding fathers, John C. Burdette, Jr., PE. Mr. Burdette passed away at his home this morning. He had been ill for several years due to complications from diabetes. He was 81 years old. Our heartfelt thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Jack helped found Burdette Koehler Murphy, along with Lou Koehler and Tom Murphy, in 1968. He was a highly respected engineer among industry peers and co-workers. Many of our tenured employees remember working for Jack and have fond memories of life at the firm when he was at the helm. He served as president until retiring in 1991. Jack is a tremendous part of BKM’s legacy and will forever be remembered as such within the firm.

In speaking with him on the phone from time to time, Jack was in obvious pain and spoke freely about his struggle. May we find comfort in the thought that Jack is no longer in pain and may we keep his memory alive through the great work engineered in his name here at Burdette Koehler Murphy & Associates.

Jim Barrett,
President
