The SMPS Maryland Chapter had many things to announce at the 2015-2016 Kick-Off Event hosted at Boordy Vineyards. From fine wine to networking with many new faces, the event was an all-around success.

Catherine DeWitt, BKM’s Director of Marketing + Business Development, began her presidency by celebrating how the chapter received the Striving for Excellence Grand Prize Award at Build Business in August. SMPS MD beat out all of the other chapters on the national level due to the hard work and leadership cultivated throughout this past term.

Catherine hopes to apply the lessons learned throughout her 16-years in the a/e/c industry and 14-years involved with SMPS spanning three separate chapters as well as national involvement to continue the chapter’s path of success. Her main focus during her presidency will be to ensure that all initiatives center around benefiting the chapter’s members, including:

  • National speakers for our education events
  • Implementation an Marketing Communications awards program
  • Scholarship program to send our members to SMPS U and Build Business
  • Roundtable events that are track based (Leadership and Business Development) and led by members of SMPS Maryland’s Senior Advisory Council
  • Member-solicited charitable organization contribution contest
  • Monthly newsletter that is content-driven
  • Marketing coordinator boot camp based on the Six Domains of Practice
