Scott’s Branch Elementary School is a 97,000 square foot two-story replacement school located in Baltimore County, Maryland. This new facility will have a state rated capacity of 574 students and will include general classrooms, art and music classrooms, media center, digital learning spaces, cafeteria, gymnasium, as well as administration and health/guidance areas. The building will also have dedicated space for the Parks and Recreation program.
The building is on track to reach the goal of two Green Globes for the Green Globes Building Program. A life cycle cost analysis was performed to evaluate the most cost-effective mechanical system for this school. The mechanical systems consist of a high-efficiency air-cooled chiller, multiple high-efficiency gas-fired condensing boilers, and a dual temperature (two-pipe) piping system with ducted fan coil units. The fan coil units recirculate air within each space to provide heating and cooling, while ventilation air is provided through rooftop DOAS units with energy recovery. The gymnasium and cafeteria are served by single zone rooftop air handling units
