BKM provided design services as part of a design/build effort for the installation of EV chargers at the Ronald Reagan Federal Office Building in Washington, DC for both the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Eight (8) dual port Level 2 EV chargers were provided within multiple levels of an existing parking garage located in the basement levels of the building. New electrical distribution equipment including transformers and panelboards were extended from the building’s existing electrical infrastructure to accommodate the new EV chargers. BKM coordinated with a structural engineering subconsultant to provide detailing for concrete pads, signage, sign supports, slab drilling notations and bollard details. BKM also coordinated with the fire protection contractor to confirm modifications to the existing dry sprinkler system within the parking garage to meet the requirements of Ordinary Hazard Group 2 per NFPA 13.
